We supply and install wood burning and multi-fuel stoves throughout Somerset. Our HETAS registered installers will assess your property, help you choose the right stove for your home and make sure the finished installation is safe, compliant and works as it should.
Every property is different. Some stove installations are relatively straightforward; others may need a chimney liner, twin wall flue system, new hearth or alterations to an existing fireplace. We will talk you through what is needed before work begins, so you know exactly what is involved.
A good stove installation starts long before the stove itself is fitted.
We can help with the whole process, from the initial survey and choosing a suitable stove through to any chimney, flue, hearth or fireplace work required for the installation. Once everything is complete, your stove will be commissioned and the installation certified in accordance with current requirements.
If you already have a stove and simply want to replace it, we can assess the existing installation too, including the condition and suitability of the flue or chimney liner.
Installing a wood burner with or without a chimney
You do not necessarily need an existing chimney to have a wood burner installed.
If your property has a suitable chimney, we will check its condition and advise whether it needs to be lined before the stove is fitted. Where a chimney liner is required, this can be included as part of the installation.
No chimney? That does not automatically rule out having a stove. In many properties we can install a twin wall flue system, which creates a safe route for the flue gases through the property and out through the roof or an external wall.
We will assess the building, work out the most suitable option and explain what is involved before recommending a system.

If you already have a wood burner or multi-fuel stove and it is time for a replacement, we can assess the existing installation and advise what can safely be reused.
That may include checking the chimney liner or flue system, hearth, fireplace opening and ventilation, as well as making sure the new stove is suitable for the room and complies with current requirements.
In some cases, replacing a stove is straightforward. In others, changes may be needed before the new stove can be installed. We will identify those at the survey stage, rather than discovering them halfway through the job.
We can then remove the old stove, carry out any necessary work and install and commission the replacement.
As HETAS registered installers, we make sure your new or replacement stove is installed safely and in accordance with current requirements.
We will assess your property, advise on the most suitable wood burning or multi-fuel stove for your home and identify any chimney, flue, hearth or fireplace work needed before installation begins.
We've got answers to some of the most frequently asked questions to help you make an informed decision.
Do I need a chimney to have a wood burner installed?
No. If you have a suitable existing chimney, we can assess it and advise whether it needs lining. If there is no chimney, it may still be possible to install a wood burner using a twin wall flue system. We will advise on the best option when we survey your property.
Can you install a wood burner if I don’t have a chimney?
Yes, in many properties we can install a twin wall flue system instead. The route and type of system will depend on the property, so we will need to assess this before recommending an installation.
Will I need a new chimney liner?
Not necessarily. If you already have a chimney or liner, we will check whether it is suitable for the stove and in good enough condition to use. If a new liner is needed, we can include this as part of the installation.
Can you replace my existing wood burner or multi-fuel stove?
Yes. We can remove and replace an existing stove and check the rest of the installation at the same time, including the chimney liner or flue, hearth, fireplace opening and ventilation. If anything needs changing to meet current requirements, we will explain this before the work goes ahead.
Do you supply the stove as well as install it?
Yes. We can help you choose a wood burning or multi-fuel stove that suits your home, the size of the room and the way you want to use it, and then take care of the installation too.
How do I know what size stove I need?
The right stove depends on more than the size of the room. Insulation, windows, ceiling height and the age and construction of the property can all make a difference. We will help you choose a stove with the right heat output for your home rather than simply going for the biggest one available.
Is my wood burner installation HETAS certified?
Our stove installations are carried out by HETAS registered installers and completed in accordance with current requirements. We will also make sure you know how to use your new stove safely before we leave.
